The required high mechanical stability is provided by IPS e.max, which comprises highly aesthetic, high-strength materials for both the PRESS and CAD/CAM techniques. IPS e.max is an advanced pressed ceramic with even greater strength than the original Empress product. This next-generation ceramic is formulated from lithium disilicate crystals and can be used to create limited bridgework with moderate-to-heavy connectors. It is monolithic lithium disilicate porcelain that can be pressed or milled as a full-contour restoration or cut back and layered with porcelain.
With a 98% success rate over ten years, the InCeram system has proven itself to be one of the strongest and most esthetic all-porcelain systems on the market today. An InCeram crown is made of highly dense-sintered aluminium oxide. The flexural strength was measured to be within the 350-700 MPa range while maintaining the highest degree of transparency. The core material is sufficiently strong to allow an InCeram core to be used for prosthetic reconstruction anywhere in the mouth. InCeram can be used to construct multi-unit bridges anywhere in the mouth. The material has excellent tissue biocompatibility and does not cause gingival irritation. With its high degree of transparency and colour adaptation to the dentin, In-Ceram® offers the ideal combination of perfect natural esthetics and high strength. Yet it is opaque enough to block out discoloured preparations or post-and-core build-ups.
